Last week I saw an article on how NFL linebacker James Harrison has maintained his body through 10 seasons of play. Harrison told reporters that he spends between $400,000 and $600,000 per year on body work which includes chiropractic, massage and acupuncture. Yes, that’s right, he spends half a million dollars every year to keep his body functioning well! I know that sounds like an insane amount of money but if you really think about it you know that your health is priceless.
We live in an amazing world today where there are new technologies and devices that come out daily that can enrich our lives. There are also the desires we all have to buy a bigger house, a new car or upgrade our material possessions. There is however for most not enough focus on investing in our health and wellness – the one thing that is absolutely necessary to enjoy all of the material comforts afforded in our rich society.
I’d like to encourage you today to take a proactive approach to your health and invest in your body so that it will continue to function in a way that allows you to enjoy life to the fullest. If that means spending a few thousands dollars a year to maintain your body with things like fitness memberships, chiropractic care and naturopathic care (to name a few options) don’t you think it is worth it? You may also be fortunate enough to have some extended health insurance coverage through work or family which may pay for part of your expenses. Your out of pocket health expenditures may also be tax deductible. The bottom line is make sure to invest in your most valued asset: YOUR HEALTH!
